history

founding

The Weinig company was founded by Michael Weinig in 1905 as a trading and manufacturing company. During the Second World War , the company's production came to a standstill.

Reconstruction after the Second World War

In 1945 the idle company was rebuilt under Bertold Weinig. In 1947 production was switched to woodworking machines. As early as 1948, Weinig was the first company in its branch to introduce series production. In 1973 the company changed to the legal form of a GmbH & Co. KG. In 1983 the company was converted into a GmbH.

Listing and acquisition

In 1988 the company was converted into a public limited company. Michael Weinig AG was listed from 1989 to 2002 and has been owned mainly by Kuwaiti investors since 1984.

Under the brand name WEINIG, several individual companies offer a product range that covers the entire process chain in solid wood processing . These include manufacturers of multi-blade saws and band resaws (Raimann Holzoptimierung GmbH & Co.KG), cross-cut saws and gluing presses (Weinig Dimter GmbH & Co.KG), high-speed planing machines (Michael Weinig AG), finger jointing systems and double-end profilers (Weinig Grecon GmbH & Co.KG) and Scanners (LuxScan Technologies). Plant projects are also designed and sold. The wood-based material sector is represented by HOLZ-HER as an independent brand.

Branches and locations

WEINIG produces in Germany , Austria , Luxembourg , the USA and the People's Republic of China and markets its products worldwide. WEINIG is represented in Europe , America , Asia and Australia with 30 subsidiaries and branches .

Products

The company develops and produces machines and systems for the solid wood processing industry and craft. These include planing and mouldering machines, window processing centers, tool grinding machines, four-sided planing machines , special machines and automation. Multi-blade saws, chop saws, glue presses, high-speed planing machines, band resaws, finger-jointing systems, double-end profilers, scanners, control systems and complete system projects are also designed and sold under the brand name WEINIG. Edge banding machines , CNC machining centers, horizontal pressure beam saws and vertical panel dividing saws are sold under the brand name HOLZ-HER .

sustainability

The company is involved in "Blue Competence", a sustainability initiative by German machine and plant manufacturers.
