Michael Westenberger (born June 16, 1968 in Schleswig ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Hamburg Parliament from 2015 to 2020 .

Life

Westenberger initially studied law for seven semesters in Bayreuth . From 1994 he continued his studies in Hamburg and graduated with a Magister iuris . From 1998 he worked as a research assistant. From 2004 to 2014 he worked as a project manager for a real estate company.

politics

Since 1995, Westenberger has been involved in the regional association of the CDU Hamburg . From 1997 he belonged to the district assembly Eimsbüttel , from 2004 as chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group. In his political work he specialized in urban development and zoning planning procedures. Since 2006 he has been the local chairman of the CDU Harvestehude / Rotherbaum. He is also a member of the CDU Hamburg regional executive committee.

In 2008 and 2011, Westenberger ran unsuccessfully in the Hamburg state election. In the 2015 mayor election , he won a direct mandate in constituency 5 Rotherbaum-Harvestehude-Eimsbüttel-Ost with 20,067 votes . In the 21st citizenship he is a member of the Home Affairs Committee, Budget Committee, Submissions Committee, Constitutional and District Committee and European Committee.

In the 2020 citizenship election , Westenberger ran again in constituency 5. The votes cast for him and his party members were not enough, the three direct mandates went to the SPD, Greens and Die Linke.
