Michael Zimmer (born November 18, 1955 ) is a former German soccer player who was active in the Bundesliga for Tennis Borussia Berlin .

Career

Zimmer played in Hertha Zehlendorf's youth and in the senior class for the first two years. In the first year of the football league in Berlin, he took second place with Zehlendorf in 1974/75 and had also participated in the DFB Cup in the games against SB Heidenheim and FC Schalke 04. In 1975 he switched to the Berlin city ​​rival Tennis Borussia as an amateur . When the "Veilchen" around goal scorer Norbert Stolzenburg (38 games - 27 goals) and with coach Helmuth Johannsen won the championship in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1975/76 season and thus made it into the Bundesliga, Zimmer made nine appearances in them he scored a goal. He played his first game in the Bundesliga under coach Rudi Gutendorf on the first matchday of the 1976/77 season . In total, he was used 21 times in that season and scored one goal against MSV Duisburg . It was his only season in the Bundesliga. The main line-up in the TeBe midfield was mostly made up of Winfried Berkemeier , Ditmar Jakobs , Lothar Schneider and Jürgen Schulz and the Swede Benny Wendt scored 20 goals in attack . As penultimate in the table, Tennis Borussia was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the round .

The 1977/78 round was unsatisfactory for the BL relegated team, TeBe finished in 10th place and Zimmer was used in 17 games. He moved to the 1978/79 season for BFC Preussen in the Oberliga Berlin and reached the runner-up .
