Michael van den Bogaard

Michael van den Bogaard (* 1974 in Solingen ) is a German photographer .

Michael van den Bogaard attended the Bergische Universität Wuppertal from 1996 to 2004 , where he graduated in communication design with a focus on photo journalism. He then studied at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts until 2005 . Since 1997 he has made photo reporting trips to Central America, Southeast Asia, India and Eastern Europe, among others.

Since 2003 van den Bogaard has been represented at exhibitions, including the “Visual Gallery” at the Photokina in Cologne, the “International Media Art Residency” in Nida / Lithuania , the “Maison du Bon Grain” in Hône / Valle d'Aosta and other exhibitions in Hamburg , Völklingen , Düsseldorf , Budapest , Łódź and Vienna .

In addition, van den Bogaard received awards such as the “ Kodak Young Talented Award” in 2003 and the Sony World Photography Awards in 2009 for his photos of the slums in Shanghai .

Van den Bogaard lives as a freelance photographer in Cologne.
