Michaela Eckl (today Michaela Henry ) (born April 25, 1980 in Munich ) is a German beach volleyball and volleyball player .
Career
Michaela Eckl began playing volleyball when she was eight years old at DJK Taufkirchen (today SV-DJK Taufkirchen). After the first South Bavarian runner-up in 1991, she participated in the national game festival for female E-youth in 1992 and participated in the German youth championships in the C, B and A youth areas with an eighth place as the best placement. In addition, Eckl twice reached the national finals " Youth trained for the Olympics " with the Unterhaching grammar school . Michaela Eckl achieved her first notable beach placement in the youth with third place at the German A-Youth Championships in 1998. After a few years in the adult teams in Taufkirchen, Eckl played for the first time in the 2000/01 season at TSV Sonthofen , for which she was in the Regionalliga served. After an interlude at ASV Dachau , the medical student moved back to Sonthofen in 2005 with her then beach partner Nicole Aures , meanwhile TSV played in the second division.
Michaela Eckl's most successful period now began. After her marriage to the former Lohhofer volleyball player Oliver Henry and the birth of her child, volleyball only played a subordinate role in Michaela Henry's life, but that did not prevent her from being successful on a regional level. a. at the Bavarian Indoor Championships 2010 in beach volleyball. In 2011, the outside attacker was also active in indoor volleyball. She was part of the DJK Augsburg-Hochzoll squad in the second half of the second division south . Subsequently, however, the native of Munich concentrated exclusively on the games in the sand. With her partner Sabine Schulz , she reached the finals of the Bavarian beach volleyball championship in 2011. Two years later, the two athletes from Unterschleißheim won. They also qualified for the German Championship 2012 , in which they were thirteenth, as well as for the DM 2013 , in which they finished ninth. Henry / Schulz had secured the necessary points for participating in it, among other things by reaching the finals at the Smart Beach Cup in Cologne. At the DM 2014 Henry / Schulz landed again in 13th place.
