architecture

Michaeliskirche is located in the village of Berkersheim on the south-western outskirts in the street Am Herrenhof . A path that branches off leads to the tower and the entrance to the church. The south-west facing hall church rises above a rectangular floor plan with sides of twelve and seventeen meters. The tower stands in front of the narrow side and is crowned by a hooded helmet with a wrought-iron cross. The stone-visible outer walls are divided by three windows each. The slate roof is hilted on both sides . Above the entrance, in the sandstone portal, there is the founding year and the sovereign coat of arms of the Hereditary Prince of Hesse and Count of Hanau.

The interior furnishings come from the construction period and are characterized by the three-sided gallery and the centrally arranged pulpit. Gallery paintings from 1693 hang on the north wall. A barred pews of the church council is located on both sides of the altar beneath the galleries. A former door in the south wall was bricked up in the 1950s to commemorate the war dead in the wall niche that was created. A stained glass window is set into the outer wall above the pulpit and altar .

The organ with 18 registers was manufactured in 1968 by the Oberlinger organ building company .
