Mikhail Isajewitsch Nemyonov

Mikhail Isajewitsch Nemjonow ( Russian Михаил Исаевич Немёнов ; born January 17 . Jul / 29. January  1880 . Greg in Vitebsk ; † 3. February 1950 in Leningrad ) was a Belarusian - Soviet surgeon , radiologist and university teachers .

Life

Nemyonov came from a Jewish family. He studied medicine at the Humboldt University of Berlin with a degree in 1905. In 1906 he became an assistant at the chair for hospital surgery at the St. Petersburg Medical Institute for female students and then a senior surgeon. In 1908 he set up one of the first X-ray cabinets in Russia there. In 1916 the institute was also opened to students.

After the October Revolution , Nemjonow founded the State Institute of Radiology and Radiology in Petrograd in 1918, together with AF Ioffe and AW Lunacharsky . To this end, he founded the Russian Society for Roentgenology and Radiology and the journal Bote der Roentgenology and Radiology in 1919 . In 1920 he was appointed professor. This was followed in 1930 the promotion to Doctor of Biological Sciences and 1935 for the doctor of medical sciences .

Nemyonov published studies on the effects of X-rays on genital organs and the autonomic nervous system . He examined the structure and function of the lymphatic system . For the first time he used the method of conditioned reflexes to study the effect of X-rays on the cerebral cortex . He also developed medical devices and methods for artificial contrasting . He was an honorary member of the Austrian Radiological Society and the Società italiana di radiologia medica .

In 1939 Nemyonov became head of the Department of Radiology at the Kirov Military Medical Academy of the Red Army and remained so until his death. During the German-Soviet War , he organized X-rays on the fronts. In 1943 he was promoted to major general in the medical service.

Nemjonow had two children, the artist Gerta Michailovna Nemenowa and the physicist Leonid Michailowitsch Nemenow .
