Mikhail Efimovich Lobashov

Mikhail Yefimovich Lobaschow ( Russian Михаил Ефимович Лобашёв ; born October 29 . Jul / 11. November  1907 greg. In the village of Bolshoye Frolovo in Tetyushi , † 4. January 1971 in Leningrad ) was a Russian physiologist , geneticist and university professor .

Life

Lobaschow studied biology at the Leningrad University at the chair of genetics and experimental zoology with a degree in 1931. He then stayed at the chair as an assistant and then as a lecturer . In 1932 he became a research assistant in the Laboratory of Genetics of the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR) and took part in several animal breeding expeditions in Central Asia .

In the German-Soviet War Lobaschow fought as a militant on the Leningrad front . In 1946 he returned to the chair of genetics at the Leningrad University with a doctorate in biological sciences .

After the conference of the All Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1948 with the speech by TD Lyssenko and the subsequent Stalin ban against classical genetics , Lobashov was dismissed from the University of Leningrad. Thereupon the director LA Orbeli of the now IP Pavlov Institute for Physiology of the AN-SSSR in Leningrad gave him a position as laboratory manager in the laboratory for genetics outside of Leningrad in Koltuschi near Vsevoloschsk

In 1953 Lobashov became professor at Leningrad University and in 1957 head of the chair of genetics and selection . He carried out fundamental studies on the physiology of the processes of mutation and recombination and on the ontogenesis of animals.

Lobashov was buried in the Leningrad Krasnenky Cemetery. The physicist Vladimir Michailowitsch Lobaschow was his son. The rock musician Andrei Wladimirowitsch Lobaschow is his grandson. WA Kawerin chose Mikhail Lobaschow as one of the prototypes for the hero of the story Two Captains .
