Mikhail Viktorovich Jessin ( Russian Михаил Есин ; born January 25, 1968 ) is a former Russian ski jumper .
Life
Michail Jessin began his career starting at the 1986 World Junior Championship in Lake Placid . He won the bronze medal with the Soviet team on the normal hill. On January 14, 1987, Jessin made his debut in the ski jumping world cup in Oberwiesenthal . With the 12th place he was able to win his first World Cup points. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 he reached the 39th place from the normal hill. A year later he reached the 36th place on the normal hill and the 11th place on the large hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 . In team jumping he was fourth with the Soviet team. On March 19, 1989 he reached the 7th place in ski flying in Harrachov, the best individual result of his career. At the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund , Jessin flew to 13th place. A year later he was able to achieve 16th place on the normal and 44th place on the large hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme . At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville he was part of the United Team and jumped from the normal hill to 11th and from the large hill to 10th place. In the team competition he reached 11th place together with Dionis Vodnev , Andrei Werweikin and Yuri Dudscharew . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1994 Jessin finally belonged to the Russian team and reached 42nd place from the large hill. In the team competition, he finished twelfth with the team.
In 1995 Jessin switched to the Ski Jumping Continental Cup for a few jumps , but ended his active ski jumping career there after only one season.
