Andrei Jurjewitsch Werweikin ( Russian Андрей Юрьевич Вервейкин ; born January 3, 1966 in Alma-Ata ) is a former Kazakh ski jumper .

Career

Werweikin made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup on December 30, 1984 and reached 80th place in jumping in Oberstdorf . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 , he jumped from the normal hill to the 8th place and from the large hill to the 5th place. In the team competition he reached 4th place together with Pawel Kustow , Michail Jessin and Valeri Wodwenko . He ended the 1990/91 World Cup season as his most successful in 16th place in the overall World Cup ranking. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he reached 32nd place in jumping from the normal hill with 186.8 points, tied with Frenchman Steve Delaup . In jumping from the large hill he reached 29th place with 151.8 points. In the team competition he finished 11th together with Michail Jessin, Dionis Vodnev and Yury Dudyarev . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1993 , Werweikin jumped from the normal hill to 39th and from the large hill to 60th place. A year later he was part of the Kazakh squad for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer . He was able to achieve 34th place on the normal hill and 37th on the large hill.

After jumping only to 31st place in Oberstdorf on December 30, 1995, he ended his career in the World Cup and only switched to the Ski Jumping Continental Cup , in which he was then no longer able to achieve a top position. After the Summer Grand Prix in 1996 Werweikin finally ended his active ski jumping career.
