Mikhail Jurjewitsch Jakubow ( Russian Михаил Юрьевич Якубов ; born February 16, 1982 in Barnaul , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HK Sochi in the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Mikhail Jakubow began his active career in 1997 in the second team of the HK Lada Tolyatti , which he left in 2001 for Red Deer Rebels . In the 2000 NHL Entry Draft , the Chicago Blackhawks had selected him in the first round in tenth place, for which he completed forty games from 2003 to 2006. In addition, the striker was used with the Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League . In the 2005/06 season he was 29 times for the HK Spartak Moscow and 13 times for the Florida Panthers on the ice. From 2006 to January 2010 he was under contract with the Severstal Tscherepowez . In January 2010 he moved to league rivals HK Spartak Moscow. In September 2010, his contract with Spartak was dissolved and Jakubow moved to the KHL newcomer HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk .
From May 2011 Jakubow was under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk and was part of the club's regular squad for the following two years, collecting 31 scorer points in 123 KHL games. In May 2013 he returned to HK Ugra and acted as team captain in the 2013/14 season before he was signed by HK Vitjas from Podolsk in May 2014 .
He ended his career after the 2015/16 season and has been a junior coach in the United States since 2017.
