Michelle Steele (born March 8, 1986 in Gladstone ) is an Australian skeleton pilot .

Michelle Steele made her first appearances since 2004 in America's Cup races. Since 2004 she has also been a member of the Australian national team. She made her debut in the World Cup in early 2006 in a race in St. Moritz , where she was tenth. Then she finished fifth at the Junior World Championships in Igls . Shortly thereafter launched Steele at the 2006 Olympic Games of Turin and finished 13th. In the 2006/07 season she achieved several good placements in the World Cup. So in January 2007 she first came second in the race in Nagano and then third in Igls. At the 2007 World Cup , Steele was sixth. She finished in tenth place overall. In the 2007/08 season she could no longer achieve any podium finishes. She was again tenth in the overall standings. At the World Championships she came in 15th. In the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, she started in the World, America's and Intercontinental Cup . In the latter two competitions, she was able to win one race each. In the 2010/11 season Steele started in four World Cup races, but could not place in the top 10. Steele is trained by Terry Holland and lives in Bundaberg . She came to the skeleton when a major search for athletes for this sport was carried out in Australia. She prevailed against about 100 other candidates and was sent to Koenigssee for further training . Before starting her skeleton career, she played a typical Australian sport, a mixture of surfing and lifeguarding.
