Mick Garris (born December 4, 1951 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American screenwriter, film producer and film director.

Live and act

Mick Garris is best known for producing and directing films based on the literary models of Stephen King . The collaboration began in 1992 with the film adaptation of Stephen King's Sleepwalker .

He made a name for himself as a director at the beginning of his career by directing making-ofs for films like Das Tier . He wrote some screenplays for the television series Amazing Stories , which was produced by Steven Spielberg .

In 2005 he created the television series Masters of Horror as a producer , in which individual episodes are staged by well-known horror film directors such as John Carpenter . For these he also wrote some scripts.

He has been married to actress Cynthia Garris since 1982. His father-in-law was the Olympic athlete and prisoner of war Louis Zamperini .

Awards (selection)

In 1986 he won an award at the Edgar Allan Poe Awards for directing an episode of the television series Amazing Stories .
