Mickey Neher

Mickey Neher (* 1966 ) is a German jazz drummer , composer and singer .

Live and act

As a thirteen-year-old Mickey Neher played as a drummer with his own band. At 16 he made his first studio recordings with a rock band. After several years of music with a focus on live performances, he studied jazz (diploma) at the Folkwang University for Music and Dance in Essen.

Neher played in Henrik Freischlader's blues band and worked on studio and CD productions as well as live performances by Gene Conners , Roy Harrington, Sonja Kimmons, Chris Farlowe , Cynthia Utterbach, Albie Donnelly , Paul Kuhn , Pete York , Martin C. Herbeg, among others , with and at WDR radio plays ( Dictator Woman , Munkie and the Monsters ).

Since 1990 Neher has been teaching drummers at the Hilden Music School .

The focus of his musical activities continues to be on live music, whereby he repeatedly plays the drums as a singer, for example with the money box trio , which accompanies August Zirner , and his own band Monkey Party , which he performs with Christian Brockmeier in 1994 and Dieter Stein founded. He has been with the Wuppertal keyboardist Roman Babik since 2007 : In the RoMI project they play RnB, hip jazz, lounge groove; In 2008 the two founded the live band Club des Belugas , with which they travel around the world.

Together with Henrik Freischlader (g, voc), Tommy Schneller (sax, voc), Moritz Fuhrhop (org, p) and Olli Gee (b), Mickey Neher founded another band in 2008: 5LIVE. First CD / LP: "5 LIVE In The Kitchen".
