Mieczysław Burda

Mieczysław Burda (born April 19, 1916 in Kraków , † April 29, 1990 in Krynica-Zdrój ) was a Polish ice hockey player and coach .

Career

Mieczysław Burda began his career as an ice hockey player at KTH Krynica , for which he was initially active from 1932 to 1937. He then ran in 1938 and 1939 for Dąb Katowice , with whom he won the Polish championship title for the first time in his career in the 1938/39 season. From 1947 to 1948 he played again for KTH Krynica. In 1948 and 1949 he competed for KS Cracovia , with whom he was also Polish champion in the 1948/49 season and then in the 1949/50 season with his parent club KTH Krynica. After another three years at KTH Krynica, he ended his active career in 1953 at the age of 37.

From 1953 to 1955 and from 1958 to 1961 Burda was the head coach of the ice hockey department at Polonia Bydgoszcz .

International

Burda took part in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz for the Polish national ice hockey team. He was also in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1937 , 1938 and 1939 . Between 1937 and 1948 he completed a total of 33 international matches for Poland, in which he scored eleven goals.
