Mieczysław Michałowicz (violinist)

Mieczysław Michałowicz , also Menasze Michajłowicz (born June 17, 1872 in Melitopol , † after 1935 ), was a Polish violinist and music teacher .

Michałowicz began his training with Stanisław Barcewicz in Warsaw and continued it at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with Leopold von Auer . On his return he taught violin and chamber music at the Warsaw Conservatory . His students included Bronisław Huberman , Szymon Goldberg , Roman Totenberg , Henryk Szeryng , Josef Hassid and Ida Haendel . In 1935 he was a juror at the First Henry Wieniawski Violin Competition in Warsaw. Nothing is known about his further life; allegedly he fell victim to the Holocaust.
