The Miellätno ( Sami Miellädno ) is a river in Sweden , it rises from the Alkajaure lake in the national park Sarek at an altitude of 756 m . It runs from the east in a north-western arch to Virihaure in it at an altitude of 25-30 kilometers, after about 579 m leads. Thus, it has a steep gradient, which makes it unsuitable for boat trips.
The Miellätno cannot be crossed without technical aids. On the Alkajaure there is a rowing boat passage near the outlet of the Miellätno, on which you have to row yourself. About two kilometers north (down) is a suspension bridge over the river, which is in poor condition and was makeshift repaired in 2009. Warning signs advise against using the bridge; however, a crossing is possible. There is another and last bridge shortly before its confluence with the Virihaure, where the Padjelantaleden crosses. In the southern section, the Miellätno forms a natural border between the Padjelanta National Park and the Sarek National Park .
The Miellätno is an important river in the Padjelanta National Park because of the heavy rainfall in its areas of origin in the western part of the Sarek National Park with valleys such as Alkavagge and Sarvesvagge .
