Miguel Ablóniz

Miguel Ablóniz ; Bourgeois: Michelis Ablonitis , (born May 29, 1917 in Cairo ; † July 19, 2001 in Acqui Terme , Italy ) was an Italian guitarist , teacher and composer .

life and work

Miguel Ablóniz began to play the guitar in self-study at the age of eight. He began his musical career as a teenager when he appeared on the radio and gave concerts in Cairo. He later studied music theory , piano , violin and guitar at the Barcelona Conservatory . He was taught by Emilio Pujol , Juan de Moral and Matilde Cuervas (1888–1956), from whom he learned to play flamenco .

After Pujol moved to Italy , he initially continued his path as a musician. In 1953 he founded his own music school in Milan . He also led the master class at the School of Music at Ithaca College in New York City for a long time .

In total he created more than 350 works and transcribed compositions e.g. B. by Manuel María Ponce .
