Gual began his footballer career in the youth field of his home club CE Júpiter and received his first professional contract in 1928 with Sevilla FC , for which he played 37 games and scored 24 goals. In the early 1930s he moved to FC Barcelona , where he was unable to assert himself and only made four appearances (with two goals). Therefore, he probably moved to CE Sabadell in 1933 , with whom he reached the final of the Copa del Rey in 1935 , which is still the greatest success in the club's history, even if the game was lost 3-0 against his former club Sevilla.

As a result of the Spanish civil war that broke out in 1936 , football in Spain came to a standstill and Gual took part in a trip that FC Barcelona undertook to Mexico in May 1937 .
