Miguel Sabah Rodríguez (born November 14, 1979 in Cancún ) is a retired Mexican soccer player .

Career

Deportivo Guadalajara

Sabah began his career with the Mexican club Deportivo Guadalajara and made his debut on August 12, 2000 in the third game of the season against CD Cruz Azul . He then only returned to the 2002 Verano season, where he played 16 games and scored three goals.

In 2006 he signed with the league competitor CD Cruz Azul and completed his best season to date in the 2006 Apertura season with 10 goals in 18 games. But in the 2007 Apertura season he was able to improve and scored 11 goals in 17 games. In the Apertura and Clausura seasons of 2008 he reached the finals twice with his club, but they were both lost to Santos Laguna and Deportivo Toluca .

On December 28th, 2008 it was announced that Sabah will join Monarcas Morelia next season and was officially launched on December 31st. He scored his first goal on January 31, 2009 against Club America . In 2010 he entered the SuperLiga with his club and won it on September 1 with a 2-1 win over New England Revolution . There he was named top scorer with four goals.

Sabah signed another contract with his first club Deportivo Guadalajara on December 14, 2012 and was officially presented on December 17.

On November 27, 2013, he moved to Club León , with which he won the Clausura 2014 and thus the Mexican championship for the first time. After his contract ended on November 29, 2015, he could not find a new team and thus ended his career on January 5, 2016.

National team

Sabah was appointed to the Mexican national soccer team by coach Javier Aguirre on May 15, 2009 and played in qualifying for the 2010 soccer World Cup against El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago . Due to an injury, however, he could not take part in the World Cup.

He also played at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009 and scored his first international goal against Panama on July 9 , which was also the 500th goal in the CONCACAF Gold Cup history. At the end of the tournament he was named top scorer with four goals.
