Mike Vannelli (born October 2, 1983 in Mendota , Minnesota ) is a former American ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with the Stavanger Oilers in the Norwegian GET league .

Career

Mike Vannelli began his career as a hockey player with the Sioux Falls Stampede team, for which he was active in the United States Hockey League from 2001 to 2003 . Then the defender was selected in the fourth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 136 players by the Atlanta Thrashers , for whom he never played. Initially, Vannelli was on the ice for the University of Minnesota team for four years . Before the 2007/08 season, he received a contract with the Wheeling Nailers from the ECHL , for which the defender only played two games before he interrupted his career for personal reasons. Towards the end of the 2008/09 season , the American received a contract with the DEG Metro Stars in the German Ice Hockey League , for which he made his DEL debut on March 1, 2009 in the home defeat against the Kassel Huskies . In June 2009 the Dresdner Eislöwen signed the defender for the 2009/10 season , in which he played for the Saxons in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey .

From summer 2010 he was under contract with the Stavanger Oilers from the GET league . With these he won the runner-up in Norway in the 2010/11 season and then decided to end his career.
