Michael Paul "Mike" Woods (born May 15, 1952 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is a former American speed skater .

Woods made his first international appearance at the 1972 Junior World Championships in Fredrikstad . In the Little Quadruple , he took eleventh place. In the great four-way fight he was able to take 17th place at the all- around world championship in 1974 in Inzell . At the Sprint World Championships in Innsbruck in the same year he reached 15th place in the all- around championship. The 1975 World Championships in Oslo ended Woods in 19th place. In 1976 he took part in his first Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. He was twelfth over 5000 meters and 10,000 meters, and 23rd over 1500 meters. Between 1977 and 1980 he competed in four other all-around world championships in the Grand Four Fighting: 1977 in Heerenveen he was 16th, 1978 in Gothenburg twelfth, 1979 in Oslo fourth after finishing second in the 5000 meter race and seventh in Heerenveen in 1980 . In the same year Woods took part in the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . He took fourth place over 10,000 meters and seventh place over 5000 meters. Four years later, at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , he again competed over 5000 meters and 10,000 meters, finishing in twelfth and seventh place. Woods graduated from Marquette University in 1984 with magna cum laude . He then attended a medical college and trained as an anesthetist . After his sporting career, he worked as an anesthetist.
