Mikitamäe is a former rural community in the Estonian district of Põlva with an area of 104 km². It had 1161 inhabitants (as of September 1, 2009). Mikitamäe has been part of the newly formed Setomaa rural community since 2017 and therefore moved to Võru County .
In addition to the main town Mikitamäe the villages belonging to the municipality Audjassaare , Beresje , Igrise , Järvepää , Kahkva , Karisilla , Laossina , Lüübnitsa , Niitsiku , Puugnitsa , Rääsolaane , Rosná , Selise , Toomasmäe , Usinitsa , Varesmäe and Võõpsu .
The unspoilt nature along the Võhandu River and the numerous lakes and bogs are particularly interesting for hikers. Culturally, the community is by the people of setos coined. The culture of the Old Believers has been preserved particularly in the village of Beredje . At Lüübnitsa, an observation tower offers a wide view of Russia .
