Kahkva (German Kahkwa ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in southeast Estonia . It belongs to the Setomaa rural community in Võru County ( Mikitamäe in Põlva County until 2017 ).

Population, location and history

The village has 49 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 32 kilometers northeast of the city of Võru . Its area is 9.15 km². The Mädajõgi River flows east of the village center .

The place was first mentioned in 1561 under the name Chochowa .
