The Mikkelsen Bay is a bay with an area of 16 x 25 km at the Fallières coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between the Bertrand-Piedmont-Glacier and Cape Berteaux .
First sighted, but not recognized as a bay, it was in 1909 during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910) under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Charcot . Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1934) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill carried out a first survey in 1936. This was followed by a further measurement by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey between 1948 and 1949. The bay is named after the Danish polar explorer Ejnar Mikkelsen (1880–1971).
