Nicolaus Báthory

Nicolaus Báthory ( Hungarian Miklós Báthory, * around 1435; † 1506 ) was a Hungarian bishop .

He studied in Bologna with the well-known historian and humanist Galeotto Marzio , who was also a chronicler at the court of Matthias Corvinus .
In 1475 he became Bishop of Vác . Under the impression of his student years in Italy, he had the castles in Vác and Nógrád expanded in the Renaissance style.

He had a lively correspondence with Marsilio Ficino and other important Italian humanists .
