Milan Linzer

Milan Linzer (born November 8, 1937 in Oberpullendorf ; † March 3, 2019 in Oberwart ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Linzer belonged to the Burgenland-Croatian ethnic group .

Life

After attending elementary school and high school , Milan Linzer studied law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1961. After a year of court practice in the Viennese district of Floridsdorf , he began to work as a notary in Oberwart and later in Mank . From 1976 Linzer ran his own law firm in Oberwart.

Linzer got involved early on in the ÖVP and its sub-organization, the Austrian Economic Association (ÖWB). In 1977 he was elected deputy chairman of the ÖWB local group in Oberwart, which was followed by the election of chairman in 1982. In 1985 he was elected representative of the Austrian Federal Reserve Board for Burgenland . Most recently, he headed the ÖWB in the Oberwart district from 1987 .

In March 1987, Linzer was sworn in in Vienna as a member of the Federal Council, to which he was to belong for 13 years until December 2000. From July 1999 he held the rank of Deputy President of the Federal Council for almost a year and a half .

Linzer was also active on the European political level when he moved into the European Parliament for the ÖVP in January 1995 , where he held a mandate until November 1996.

Since 1958 he was a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Amelungia Vienna in the ÖCV .
