Miloslav Sochor (born January 8, 1952 in Pec pod Sněžkou ) is a former Czech ski racer . He started for Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and achieved the greatest successes in the technical disciplines of giant slalom and slalom .

biography

Sochor was in 1970 for the first time a member of the Czechoslovak team at an Alpine World Ski Championships . In Val Gardena he was 16th in the combined, 39th in the giant slalom and 54th in the downhill. Four years later, at the 1974 World Championships in St. Moritz , he achieved fourth place in the combination with ranks 17 in slalom, 21 in giant slalom and 47 in downhill.

In March 1974, Sochor was able to place eighth place in the World Cup points for the first time in the giant slalom in Vysoké Tatry at home . By the end of the 1976/77 season he drove nine times among the top ten in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines. He achieved his best World Cup result on March 21, 1977 with third place in the giant slalom in Åre , the only podium finish in his career. In the European Cup he won the discipline classification in giant slalom in the 1974/75 season and was third overall.

In 1976 Sochor took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck , was 11th in the giant slalom, 14th in the slalom and 40th in the downhill. This made him seventh in the combination that was only counted as a World Cup competition. In 1978 he took part in a world championship for the last time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and was 25th in the giant slalom and 39th in the downhill. He was eliminated in the slalom.
