Milton Cruz (pianist)

Milton Cruz Valentín (born February 5, 1939 in Santiago de los Caballeros , † March 21, 1998 in New York City ) was a Dominican pianist.

Cruz studied from 1959 at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música with Manuel Rueda . A grant from the Dominican government enabled him to do postgraduate studies at the Juilliard School of Music from 1965 to 1970 . He then lived as a concert pianist in the USA, where he performed a. a. at the McMillin Theater at Columbia University and Carnegie Hall and on radio broadcasts.

In his home country he gave a. a. Concerts in his native city, in the Teatro Nacional and in the Palacio de Bellas Artes of the state capital. He gave his last concert in 1997 with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de la República Domincana under the direction of Félix Carrasco , where he played Moritz Moszkowski's Piano Concerto in E major .
