Milton Fowler Gregg

Milton Fowler Gregg VC PC OC CBE MC (born April 10, 1892 in Mountain Dale , New Brunswick , † March 13, 1978 in Fredericton , New Brunswick) was a Canadian officer and politician of the Liberal Party of Canada , the Minister in the 16th Canadian Cabinet of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King and served in the 17th cabinet of Prime Minister Louis Saint-Laurent .

Life

Officer in World War I and II and President of the University

Gregg completed a degree after attending school, which he completed with a Master of Arts (MA). During the First World War he did his military service in the Canadian Army between 1914 and 1918 and was last promoted to major . For his bravery he was awarded the Victoria Cross on March 28, 1918 .

Later, Fowler, who was also awarded a Doctor of Civil Laws (DCL), was between February 13, 1934 and 1944 Sergeant-at-Arms of the Parliament of Canada and thus the competent representative of domestic power in Parliament. At the same time he was reassigned to active military service in the Canadian Army in World War II and was last promoted to brigadier general. Federal Minister and Member of the House of Commons

After the war ended, Gregg was appointed by Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King on February 2, 1947, as Minister of Fisheries in the 16th Cabinet of Canada. Shortly thereafter, he was also a candidate of the Liberal Party on October 20, 1947 at a by-election in the nearby New Brunswick constituency York-Sunbury first time a member of the lower house elected and was this until his defeat in the general election on June 10, 1957 at .
