Mino Delle Site

Domenico "Mino" Delle Site (born May 1, 1914 in Lecce , † 1996 in Rome ) was an Italian painter and sculptor .

As an artist of futurism , he was an important representative of aeropittura . After the Second World War , he was also influenced by Cubism and Abstractionism . His works belong to the permanent collection of the Museo Caproni in Trento and were exhibited in the Palazzo Grassi in 2000 .

Life

In 1930, at the age of 16, Mino Delle Site moved to Rome. In February 1931 at the "Prima Mostra di Aeropittura - Omaggio futurista ai trasvolatori" he met numerous artists: Marinetti , Balla , Fillia Prampolini, Dottori and joined the futuristic movement. A year later he showed his first solo exhibition at the “Bragaglia fuori Commercio”, sponsored by Enrico Prampolini, and in 1933 he exhibited in his native Lecce, presented by the futuristic aeropoeist Vittorio Bodini. In 1935 he took part with other Futurists at the II. Quadriennale di Roma , at the XX. Biennale di Venezia (1936), at the 2nd Mostra della Plastica Murale (1936) in Rome, at the XXI. Biennale di Venezia (1938) and also at the III. Quadriennale Romana (1939).

In the 1950s Delle Site had his first retrospective in the Galleria delle Carrozze in Rome (1956) and took part in Quadrennials VI, VII and VIII. In 1965 he had a solo exhibition at the Rizzoli Gallery in New York. In the 1980s Delle Site took part in the exhibitions "Gli Anni Trenta" and "Il Futurismo e la moda" in Milan (1982 and 1988 respectively), "Futurismi Postali" ( Rovereto , Grado, Bari, Palermo and Alessandria), and received a retrospective in the Galleria Fonte d'Abisso in Modena (1984), which was repeated in 1985 in the Galleria Narciso in Turin . In 1989, a year before his death, the city of Lecce honored its son with a new exhibition. The exhibitions “Aereo e Pittura” (Naples and London 1989/90), “Futurismo e Meridione” (1996, Naples), “Gli anni del futurismo in Puglia” followed. 1909-1944 ”(Bari and Taranto ),“ I temi del Futurismo ”(1998, Genoa and Milan) and“ Futurismo e Aeropittura, Arte in Italia ”(1999, Lisbon).

In 2013 there was the retrospective “La Ricerca nel Segno” in Rome and Delle Site was included in the collective exhibition “Alluminio. Tra Futurismo e Contemporaneità ”in the Museo Civico of Montevarchi .
