Miriam Pharo (born May 8, 1966 in Córdoba , Spain ) is a French-born author .

Pharo grew up on the Île d'Oléron , south of La Rochelle ; At the age of nine she came to Germany , studied Slavic, Romance and political science in Mainz and Heidelberg . Years as an advertising copywriter for various agencies and companies in Germany and abroad followed. She first appeared as an author in 2008. In March she published the first two parts of her future thriller, Section 3 / Hanseapolis, as an e-book on her own . In order to make the medium more attractive for the reader, the author integrated interactive mouseover functions. If you moved the cursor over specially marked places, the thoughts of the protagonists, illustrations as well as technical and social information became visible in a separate window. This technique arose from the consideration that in real life people's thoughts are invisible and that these have to be elicited from them through active involvement.

At the end of 2008, the author was discovered by Hamburg-based ACABUS Verlag ( Diplomica Verlag group ). In July 2009, her first novel, Snake Food, from the SF crime series, Section 3 / Hanseapolis, was published . Volume 2 Shadow Play was published in May 2010, followed by Volume 3 Prelude in 2012 , the specialty of which is that it is based on the 24 Preludes by Frédéric Chopin . The settings of the book series are the former Hanseatic cities of Hamburg and Lübeck in 2066, which merge into a megacity after a flood disaster in order to survive. Other locations are Venice , London , Osaka and Libya .

At the beginning of 2010 Pharo was appointed by the Berlin Senate Administration to the jury of the funding competition “Evolving Books - Digitaler Added Value for Books”.

WERKSCHAU was presented at the Leipzig Book Fair 2012: the first German-language, multimedia authoring app for the iPad with the author's books, an insight into her creative work including photos, soundtracks, reading samples and illustrations.

In 2012 she took part in a creative workshop at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research to discuss various future scenarios with experts. The accompanying study “Scenarios for the Gigabit Society” was published in 2013 as a book.

The author lives in Starnberg .
