Petra Hartmann

Petra Hartmann (* 1970 in Hildesheim ) is a German writer from the genre of fantastic literature .

Life

Hartmann grew up in Sillium near Holle and attended the Andreanum grammar school in Hildesheim . She then studied German , philosophy and political science at the University of Hanover and did her doctorate with a thesis on the young German writer Theodor Mundt .

During her studies she started working as a journalist. She wrote for the Leine-Zeitung (Neustadt am Rübenberge), the Nordsee-Zeitung (Bremerhaven) and the Neue Presse (Hanover) . This was followed by an internship at the Neue Deister-Zeitung in Springe . She then worked for this newspaper for five years as a local editor. She was also employed by the Volksstimme in Gardelegen . She currently works as a local editor for the Goslarsche Zeitung .

Petra Hartmann mainly writes fairy tales and fantasy . During her studies she published stories and poems in the student magazine Versschwoerer , followed by contributions to fanzines for the Legendensänger Edition by Christel Scheja and the Tales of Blood and Love by Charlotte Engmann .

She achieved her first successes in the competition of the Story Olympiad , in which she took third place in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Her three contributions took place in the fantasy world Movenna and were so popular with the Story Olympiad founder and publisher Ernst Wurdack that he ordered a first book from this world from the author. The volume Tales from Movenna was published in 2004 , followed by a second part in 2007 A Prince for Movenna , followed by the novel The Rock of the Black Gods in 2010 . Other Movenna stories have appeared in anthologies, magazines and fanzines.

She was also the editor of two volumes of fairy tales for Wurdack-Verlag , and she also edited anthologies for Blitz-Verlag, UlrichBurger-Verlag and Verlag Monika Fuchs. In 2008 she was awarded the German Fantasy Prize for her anthology Drachenstarker Feenzauber . For the "Dragons! Dragons!" she was nominated for the Kurd-Laßwitz-Prize .

As a literary scholar, Petra Hartmann is primarily concerned with Young Germany . A special focus of her work is on the young German authors Theodor Mundt , Gustav Kühne and Charlotte Stieglitz . She has also published articles on Uwe Johnson , the Faust and Don Juan material , Berthold von Holle , motifs from fantasy and journalistic writing.
