Bunny Lake was an electropop band from Austria founded in 2004. The band name refers to the film Noir Bunny Lake Is Missing ( Bunny Lake Is Missing ) by Austrian director Otto Preminger from 1965. The band split up in December 2012.

Band history

Bunny Lake was founded in 2004 by singer Christian Fuchs and musician Dr. Night power established. Before that, Christian Fuchs worked as a singer and songwriter in the industrial rock band Fetish 69 and the TripHop project Toxic Lounge. Both bands released albums on several labels, including Nuclear Blast and Klein Records. Dr. Nachtstrom previously worked as an experimental electronic musician and produced several albums on the avant-garde label Mego .

In the same year the singer Suzy on the Rocks (Teresa Rotschopf) and the bassist Christof Baumgartner joined the band. The first studio album, The Late Night Tapes , was released in 2006, and the producer was the Viennese electro musician Gerhard Potuznik, alias GD Luxxe. The album "sets an excessive party night to music, in which euphoria cannot be had without the hangover afterwards" .

The second album The Church of Bunny Lake from 2007 was produced by Christopher Just ( Kitsuné , Chicks on Speed ). It “cleverly fuses electronic dance music with the energy of rock 'n' roll” . Above all, the remix of Disco Demons contained on it receives a lot of attention and ends up in the playlists of well-known DJs of the international club scene such as Ivan Smagghe , Mylo and Laurent Garnier .

A musical change of direction was announced with the single Into the Future, released at the end of 2008 . At the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards 2009 they won in the "Electronic / Dance" category. This was followed by a record deal with Universal Music and the release of the download single in 1994 . In 2010 the album The Beautiful Fall was released , which the group also presented with an extensive live tour. After the release of the album The Sound of Sehnsucht in 2012, the band announced their breakup. The last concert took place on December 22nd, 2012 at the WUK in Vienna.
