Mirisch Corporation
Mirisch Corporation was an American film production company. The company was founded in the late 1950s by the brothers Walter Mirisch , Harold Mirisch and Marvin Mirisch .
Before founding their independent production company in August 1957 , the Mirisch brothers worked for Allied Artists . Her relationships with famous directors, who were to contribute to her late success, also came from this time. They were involved in the production of the following films on behalf of the Allied Artists: Moulin Rouge , Moby Dick , Some like it hot , Ariane - love in the afternoon and alluring temptation .
By allowing them great artistic freedom and allowing them to participate in the box office of their films, the Mirisch Corporation established lasting relationships with directors Billy Wilder , Blake Edwards , John Sturges and Robert Wise .
The contract between United Artists and the Mirisch Corporation, signed in 1957, consisted of twelve feature films. In 1959 the quota was increased to twenty. The Mirisch Brothers produced a total of 68 films for the United Artists. In 1974, they moved their production company to Universal Pictures .
After the success of the first Pink Panther film, The Pink Panther , the Mirisch Corporation produced short films about the adventures of Paulchen Panther. In 1964, the short film Der rosarote Schmierfink, produced in this series, received the Oscar for best animation short film. Several animated series with the Pink Panther were produced through its subsidiary "Mirisch Television".
The films produced by the Mirisch Corporation were nominated for a total of 79 Oscars , and they have won the golden statuette 23 times.
