Miroslav Đukić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Мирослав Ђукић ); (Born February 19, 1966 in Šabac , SFR Yugoslavia ), is a Serbian football coach and former football player . The former Yugoslav international was last coach of FK Partizan Belgrade .

Career as a player

Đukić began his career in 1986 at the Mačva Šabac club from his hometown, before moving to the Belgrade club FK Rad in 1989 . In 1990 he moved to the Primera División for Deportivo La Coruña . He played the classical libero there and was considered the last great libero of the Yugoslav school. During his time at La Coruña, the club became a top Spanish team. In 1997 Đukić moved to league rivals Valencia CF, with whom he stood twice in a row in the Champions League final in 2000 and 2001 , but lost both times. Finally, in 2003/04, Đukić ended his career at CD Tenerife .

Đukić was also a successful national player. In 1991 he was still used for the Yugoslav national soccer team and played 46 games for this and the national teams of the so-called rest of Yugoslavia and Serbia-Montenegro until 2001 , scoring two goals. With Serbia and Montenegro he took part in the 1998 World Cup and the EURO 2000 .

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career in 2004, Đukić trained as a coach in Spain. His first coaching job was in 2006 for the Serbian U-21 national team , which he led to the European runner-up in 2007 and the associated qualification for the 2008 Olympic Games . He then resigned from his coaching position in order to be able to devote himself fully to the head coaching position of Partizan Belgrade , which he had held since the beginning of 2007. In the winter break of 2007/08 he resigned at Partizan and took over the Serbian national team, with which he aimed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup . At the same time he trained Serbia's selection, consisting of the strengthened squad of the U-21s, at the 2008 Olympic Games. This tournament was disappointing with only one point gain and the resulting last place in the table. Following the Olympic tournament, Đukić was dismissed as the coach of the Serbian national team and replaced by Radomir Antić , who had been considered the preferred candidate for this post for years. During his time as national coach, she won none of her games (A-team: 2 draws, 3 defeats; U-23s: 1 draw, 2 defeats).

In March 2011, Đukić was signed by Hércules Alicante , at that time in the Primera División , after the club had slipped to a relegation zone under his predecessor Esteban Vigo . However, ićukić failed to save the club from relegation at the end of the 2010/11 season . 6 July 2011 signed a contract Đukić at that time in the Segunda División playing Real Valladolid . At the end of the 2011/12 season he rose with the club in the Primera División. After the end of his 2012/13 season the league had succeeded, Đukić signed a contract with FC Valencia to succeed Ernesto Valverde to compete. He was released on December 16, 2013 after numerous failures.
