Miroslav Maurer

Miroslav Maurer (born August 7, 1951 , † January 27, 2012 in Český Brod ) was a Czech football referee .

Career

Maurer has directed and assisted over 100 matches in the 1st fotbalová league since the 1980s. In the 1990s he was one of the best referees in Czechoslovakia and, among other things, whistled the derby between Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague . At that time he was also included on the list of FIFA referees.

He had international appearances as an assistant referee. He stood on the line during the qualifying games for the 1996 European Football Championship at the Portugal-Liechtenstein (1994) and Scotland-San Marino (1995) games.

After his career as a first division referee, Maurer worked as a delegate of the referee committee of the ČMFS . He became increasingly involved in futsal , where he was a member of the referee subcommittee and was secretary of the FAČR. In addition, he remained active as a referee in lower-class games. In his hometown of Kladno, Maurer last whistled for the BIOSce at the Christmas tournament 2011 and finally on December 26th at the Doksy indoor tournament .

At the end of December 2011, Maurer sought medical treatment for health problems and was referred to the Central Military Hospital in Prague, where he was operated on successfully. In January 2012 he lost consciousness due to late complications and had to be transferred to the Coma Center in Český Brod , where he eventually died.
