Mis • an • thrope is a Nu-Metal album by the US band DED . It was released on July 21, 2017 via Suretone Records .

History of origin

Ded met John Feldmann von Goldfinger almost two years before the album was released. While they were working together on their debut album, Feldmann also produced new albums by Blink-182 , Black Veil Brides and an album by his own band. During this time, the band often moved between Los Angeles, where the studio was located, and their home in Arizona.

The album itself was released on CD and LP on July 21, 2017 via Suretone Records.

Singles

A total of three singles appeared as teasers before the release, which got in the mood for the album with matching music videos and lyric videos. FMFY was released on February 2, 2017, making it the nu-metal band's debut single. This was followed by Anti-Everything on March 10th and Dead to Me on June 21st, 2017.

On September 12, 2017, the video for Remember the Enemy , directed by Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit , was released. The last single was Hate Me on January 25, 2018 .

Music genre

On mis • an • thrope, the band plays aggressive Nu-Metal, which is made up of various influences such as Bring Me the Horizon , Lamb of God , Every Time I Die , Slipknot , Korn and Run the Jewels , but also pop music such as Michael Jackson and Jack Johnson . Harder and more poppy passages alternate. Occasionally there are also rap-metal parts. The lyrics are mostly about internal and external problems and internal struggles. They try to convey a feeling of empowerment .

In general, the album was discussed very favorably, even if some reviewers saw it as not very innovative.

“On their debut, Ded deliver modern, but by no means innovative, crossover metal. They have the skills to use the stylistic devices of the great reference acts - but they don't steal the show from them yet. "
