Misaki Oshigiri ( Japanese 押 切 美 沙 紀 , Oshigiri Misaki ; born September 29, 1992 in Nakasatsunai ) is a Japanese speed skater .

Career

Oshigiri won the silver medal in the all-around junior world championships in 2010 and 2011. On April 1, 2011 she joined the transport company Fuji Kyūkō (Fujikyū), for whose team she has been competing since then. She made her debut in the World Cup at the beginning of the 2012/13 season in Heerenveen . There she finished 11th over 1500 m in Division B. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she came 22nd over 1500 m and fourth in the team pursuit. She ran her first A World Cup race in the 2014/15 season in Seoul , which she finished in 17th place over 1500 m. At the beginning of the following season she achieved her first podium finishes in the World Cup in Calgary with second place in the team pursuit and in Salt Lake City with third place in the mass start. At the following World Cups she won her first World Cup victories in the team pursuit in Inzell and in the mass start and in the team pursuit in Heerenveen and thus achieved third place in the mass start World Cup. In October 2015 she became the Japanese champion in the 1500 m. At the individual distance world championships in Kolomna in 2016 , she won the silver medal in the team pursuit. In addition, she achieved 14th place over 3000 m and 11th place over 1500 m and in the mass start. At the all-around world championship in 2016 in Berlin she was fifth. The following season, she won the team pursuit in Astana and Stavanger . At the 2017 Individual Distance World Championships in Gangwon , she ran over 1500 m to 12th place and won the silver medal in the team pursuit. At the subsequent Winter Asian Games in Obihiro she won the silver medal in the 1500 m and the gold medal in the team pursuit. The following year she was ninth over 5000 m at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
