Misako Kanō
Misako Kanō ( Japanese 加納 美 佐 子 , Kanō Misako ; * in Yamaguchi Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz pianist .
Live and act
Kano started playing the piano at the age of five. From the mid-1980s to 1990, she studied classical and jazz piano at various universities in Japan and the United States. In the 1990s she lived in New York, where she worked as a resident pianist at the Cotton Club in 1992 and recorded two albums under her own name; in her band played u. a. Thomas Chapin . She has also worked on recordings with Ted Curson ( Traveling On , 1996) and Gary Lucas ( Busy Being Born , 1998), and worked with Ray Drummond , Fred Hopkins and Gerry Hemingway . At the end of the decade she lived in Tokyo; In 1999 she presented the album 3 Purple Circles with Dave Liebman , Mark Helias and Stomu Takeishi . In the field of jazz, she was involved in five recording sessions from 1986 to 1999.
