from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Congregation of the Missionaries of teaching and atoning Savior ( Misioneras de Jesús Verbo y Víctima , religious symbol MJVV) were by Bishop Friedrich Kaiser and sister Willibrordis Bonefeld , two missionaries from Hiltrup 1961 in Caravelí in the region of Arequipa ( Peru established).

Apostolate

The intention of the foundation of the congregation was to alleviate the consequences of the shortage of priests through the use of religious sisters as pastors , especially in the Andean regions . Usually six sisters form a local community, called " Patmos " by the Misioneras de Jesús Verbo y Víctima . As a result, two teams of two sisters each can be in pastoral care in the remote hamlets and villages; the fifth and sixth sister meanwhile look after the mission station and are available for the believers who come to them. The sisters donate the sacrament of baptism , assist instead of the priest in dispensing the sacrament of marriage , bringing the sick hl. Communion and donate sacramentals such as church funerals . They are commissioned to do this by the respective local bishop . They give religious instruction, hold church services and lead rural parishes . In addition, the sisters are active in literacy , medicine supply and health care for the population.

The congregation has 395 sisters (as of 2019). Of these, 263 are active in Peru, spread over 13 dioceses and prelatures . The other sisters work in Argentina , Bolivia , Chile , Cuba , Paraguay and Uruguay .

The motherhouse is in Caravelí. Superior General is Rosario Francia Zevallos, with the religious name Madre María Jacinta MJVV.
