Mitkof Island is an island in the Alexander Archipelago in southeast Alaska , located between Kupreanof Island in the west and mainland Alaskan in the east. The island had 3364 inhabitants at the 2000 census, most of whom live in the city of Petersburg at the northern end of the island.
