The Miter Peak is a 6,010 m (according to other sources 6025 m ) high mountain in the central Karakoram in Pakistan .
It is located on the south side of the Baltoro Glacier directly on Concordiaplatz , the place where the Upper Baltoro Glacier coming from the south joins the Godwin Austen Glacier coming from the K2 to the north to form the Baltoro Glacier. Opposite Miter Peak are the mountains of the Gasherbrum Group , which consists of three eight-thousanders .
Despite its - in comparison to its neighbors - relatively low level of Miter Peak on the approach has seen the Baltoro Glacier from a "majestic" shape that a miter (English Miter.) Is similar.
Ascent history
There are various details about the first ascent of Miter Peak. Many attempts to climb were carried out without a permit. However, the solo ascent by the French Ivan Ghirardini on June 2, 1980 is considered safe.
