The Mittlere Eichberg , also called the Vorderer Eichberg , is a 372 meter high mountain in the 13th district of Hietzing in Vienna .

geography

The Mittlere Eichberg is located in the southwestern part of the Hietzing district and is part of the Lainzer Tiergarten . Neighboring mountains are the Kaltbründlberg in the north , the Kaiserzipf in the southwest and the Kleine Eichberg in the south. The largely forested hill is part of the Vienna Woods Mountains , the northeasternmost branch of the Eastern Alps . A source brook of the Gütenbach rises on the south-western slope of the Middle Eichberg . Another source stream of the Gütenbach runs east of the mountain. The Kleefrischewiese is located north of the Eichberg.

Origin of name

The Mittlere Eichberg was probably named after its oak population and was first documented in 1819. Interestingly, there is also a small Eichberg , but no large or rear Eichberg in the Lainzer Tiergarten. The Kleefrischewiese or Kleefrische Wiese, north of the mountain, was named either from the cultivation of clover, which was promoted in the 18th century, or from a former owner.
