Mockritz is a district of the municipality Elsnig in the district of North Saxony in Saxony .
location
Mockritz is located on an elevated plain southeast of Neiden and north of the city of Torgau in the Elbaue on an oxbow lake not far from the river that flows past to the east. In terms of traffic, the district can be reached via connecting roads from Neiden and Döbern .
history
In 1198 a mansion of a single estate was mentioned in a document on the place of Mockritz. The estate was called Tiedoldus de Mocrus ; In 1350 the village was called Mockerwics and in 1529 Mockritz . From 1606 to 1797 the manor was called Kreischa . Either that was the name of the new owner or of another village from where the estate was cultivated. In 1895 the farmers and the estate cultivated 835 hectares of land in their district . 184 people lived here in 1818, 207 in 1964 and 419 in 1949. As early as 1974, the village was incorporated into Elsnig.
