action

The British-Pakistani rapper Zed, born in 1990, has just given his biggest concert to date in New York when his girlfriend and manager Vaseem told him about a planned tour in Europe. This should begin in London. His girlfriend doesn't want a relationship when he's always on the go and on the go.

Zed flies to London, where his parents also live. The father still runs the Pakistani restaurant there that he used to run, and Zed's old room is still as it was when he left it. He listens to himself on cassette through old recordings of him from childhood. He is confronted again with the culture that he had partly forgotten in the USA, whereas in his songs he processed his experiences as a migrant.

After feeling numbness in his leg several times , Zed collapses and wakes up in the hospital. After a biopsy, in which muscle tissue is removed from him, Zed is confronted with the diagnosis. He has an autoimmune disease in which his body attacks and weakens its own muscles. Since there is no chance of a cure and his condition does not improve, an experimental therapy is suggested, which, however, has side effects similar to chemotherapy and can reduce or destroy his fertility .

His father Bashir calls a healer to help him, who fleecs his son. Zed can't stand to see his parents arguing about his further treatment. His manager Vaseem doesn't want to do the tour with him because he should first take care of his health. Instead, the rapper RPG, for whom Zed was always the greatest role model, is to replace him on the tour. For this, Vaseem would like to use Zed's latest song Toba Tek Singh , which he is supposed to sell and sing RPG on the tour, but Zed doesn't think much of the art of his "colleague" and his own lyrics. However, he believes they are similar.

At first Zed thinks he will get fit again quickly, but quickly he can hardly move independently. In visions, Zed repeatedly sees a fat man whose face is covered by a Pakistani flower arrangement. Before donating his sperm for a freeze, Zed calls his ex-girlfriend to ask if he can write her name on the papers for the frozen sperm. After she ends the conversation without answering, Zed gives a sample of his spit.

After Zed starts IV therapy, he can at least walk again quickly, which makes him cry with joy. He goes to his parents, where his strength returns. He's also got his voice back, so good that he can sing along with his father Toba Tek Singh when the RPG song is sung on the radio.
