The Santa District is one of nine districts of the province of Santa and in the region of Ancash in Peru . The 38.61 km² large district consists largely of the city of Santa . The district had 19,621 inhabitants at the 2017 census. In 1993 the population was 14,263, in 2007 18,010.

The Santa District is located in the far northwest of the Santa Province south of the mouth of the Río Santa . It includes the city ​​of Santa near the Pacific coast . The district is about 10 km north of the city of Chimbote . In the north, the district of Santa borders on the district of Guadalupito ( province of Virú ), in the east and southeast on the district of Chimbote and in the south on the district of Coishco . The national road 1N ( Panamericana ) crosses the district.
