The district of Caceres del Perú (alternative spelling: District of Cáceres del Perú ) is one of 9 districts in the province of Santa and is located in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district founded on October 13, 1886 has an area of ​​549.78 km². The district is named after Andrés Avelino Cáceres (1836–1923), multiple president of Peru. At the 2017 census there were 4,420 inhabitants in the district of Caceres del Perú. In 1993 the population was 5473, in 2007 it was 5062. The administrative center is the 1203  m high village of Jimbe .

The district of Caceres del Perú is located on the western flank of the Cordillera Negra in the central east of the province of Santa, almost 50 km east of the city of Chimbote . The district includes the upper catchment area of the Río Nepeña with its tributaries Río Cosma, Río Colcap and Río Ticlla. The lowest point in the district is about 600  m above sea level. On the northeastern border of the district is the 5,187  m high Coñocranra , the highest point of the Cordillera Negra. South of the mountain is the headwaters of the Río Nepeña.

The district of Caceres del Perú borders in the southwest with the district Nepeña , in the west with the district Chimbote , in the north with the district Macate , in the east with the districts Santo Toribio , Huaylas , Mato and Pamparomás (all four in the province Huaylas ) as well as in South to the Moro district .
