Mohamed Abarhoun ( Arabic محمد أبرهون, DMG Muḥammad Abarhūn ; * May 3, 1989 in Tétouan ; † December 2, 2020 ) was a Moroccan football player .
Career
society
Abarhoun started his career at Maghreb Tétouan . Between 2010 and 2011 he played on loan with Chabab Rif Al Hoceima before returning to Tétouan. For Maghreb he came to over 120 missions in the botola .
For the 2017/18 season he moved to Portugal for Moreirense FC . In August 2017 he made his first game in the Primeira Liga against Vitória Setúbal . In a year and a half at Moreirense, the defender made 37 appearances in the top Portuguese division, in which he scored a goal. In January 2019 he moved to Turkey to Çaykur Rizespor . Abarhoun played 36 times in the Süper Lig and scored three goals. He left Rizespor after the 2019/20 season.
National team
Abarhoun took 2011 with the Moroccan U-23 team at the African Nations Cup in part. With the Moroccans, he only lost to Gabon in the final and qualified second for the 2012 Summer Olympics . Abarhoun was also appointed to the squad for the Olympic soccer tournament in summer 2012 and was used in all three games in Morocco. However, the Africans were eliminated in the preliminary round.
In July 2013 he made his debut in qualifying for CHAN 2014 against Tunisia for the senior national team . He qualified with the Moroccans for the finals, for which he was also nominated and in which he played all four games. With Morocco he failed in the quarterfinals to Nigeria . By September 2014 Abarhoun made seven international appearances, in November 2015 he was in the squad for the last time.
Personal
Abarhoun was diagnosed with stomach cancer in February 2020 . He succumbed to this disease at the beginning of December of that year at the age of 31.
