Life

Mirza Mohammad Ali Khan Ala al-Saltaneh was born in 1829 as the son of the Iranian consul in Baghdad Mirza Ibrahim Mohandes. After school and studies in Baghdad and Iran, Mirza Mohammad began his diplomatic career as a consul in Tbilisi . He accompanied Naser al-Din Shah in 1898 on his trip to Europe. In the following years Mohammad Ali Khan Ala al-Saltaneh became ambassador in London . After the Constitutional Revolution, Mohammad Ali Khan Ala al-Saltaneh returned to Iran in 1907 and took over the post of Foreign Minister.

On June 11, 1913, Mohammad Ali Khan Ala al-Saltaneh became Prime Minister for the first time. He was to hold this office until July 1, 1914. In July 1917 Mirza Mohammad was able to take over the office of Prime Minister for a second time, but was replaced by Abdol Majid Mirza Eyn-al-Dowleh in November 1917 .

Mirza Mohammad Ali Khan Ala al-Saltaneh had a son, Hossein Ala , who accompanied him on numerous trips abroad at a young age and became ambassador and minister under Reza Shah and Prime Minister under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi .

Mirza Mohammad Ali Khan Ala al-Saltaneh died on June 23, 1918.
